Continuing the previous post, it’s time to meet our main organizers behind *ship! These peeps have been making *ship happen for quite a while and thanks to their ambitious, dedicated and passionate minds, they have made *ship what it is today; the biggest startup event of South-Eastern Finland!

Let’s check out who are these cool guys!

Antti Viitanen

What is your role and responsibilities?
My role is main organizer who is responsible for the lives of people who come on board to *ship. I’m also taking care of PR related stuff.

What attracted you to join the *ship team?
In 2015 I got the possibility to be part of *ship. It attracted me because of the impact I felt it can create and also the possibility to be part of something bigger that we nowadays call #shipmovement.

What are your expectations for this summer and for the *ship Startup Festival 2018?
With the organizing team, I am hoping to have a hardworking and fun summer. For the festival, I am expecting that we are making the best quality event so far!

How would you define yourself in three words?
Great team player!

How do you like to challenge yourself?
I like to challenge myself in areas that I feel I got weaknesses. For example, I challenge myself socially almost every day. I put myself into situations where I have to use my verbal skills and keep my confidence. I used to be really shy so I do this to build my self-confidence and train myself to public speaking situations.

Do you have a role model or a favorite quote that inspires you?
My all-time favorite quote is by Walter Elias Disney: “If you can dream it, you can do it!”

What are some small things that make your day better?
Petting my lovely dog Pontus.

If you had a ship how would you name it?
“EntrepreneurSHIP”

Anne-Mari Vuoksi

What is your role and responsibilities?
My main responsibilities are coordinating the event team and programs for *ship.

What attracted you to join the *ship team?
I applied as an intern last summer because I wanted to have experience in communication, event management and project work. And I really liked the enthusiasm and atmosphere of the event.

What are your expectations for this summer and for the *ship Startup Festival 2018?
I hope this summer keeps us busy and that we can make this event a great experience for all.

How would you define yourself in three words?
Friendly, helpful and curious

How do you like to challenge yourself?
I try to push myself to try new things semi-regularly.

Do you have a role model or a favorite quote that inspires you?
My role models have always been the powerful and strong women in my life.

What are some small things that make your day better?
Keeping things organized and my surroundings clean can definitely boost my spirit. And all pets of course.

If you had a ship how would you name it?
I’m really bad at coming up with names so I’d probably call it just a ship…

Nikolas

What is your role and responsibilities?
I am mainly building partnerships and managing startups, but I like to think that I’m more of a jack of all trades.

What attracted you to join the *ship team?
This is my second year working on *ship, but originally it was the people here that I just clicked with.

What are your expectations for this summer and for the *ship Startup Festival 2018?
Last year I learned a lot from both mistakes and successes, so I have no doubt this summer is going to be fun, educational and provide a good foundation for future endeavors.

How would you define yourself in three words?
Curious, sarcastic and a latent geek

How do you like to challenge yourself?
I have noticed that improbability and surprise lure the best out of me – I sort of enjoy the feeling of a little gamble and trust, so I attempt to find these kinds of situations.

Do you have a role model or a favorite quote that inspires you?
I don’t have a specific role model, but I get inspired by some entrepreneurs. Maybe it’s the ‘anything’s possible’ vibe they possess.

What are some small things that make your day better?
Coffee, smiles and conversation.

If you had a ship how would you name it?
I really like the idea of naming a boat after a drink or something else funny, like “Liquid asset”.
